Maintaining a good Joint Range of Movement (JROM) is very important for longevity of knee joint cartilage and intra-articular fluid. Because of changing environment and our modern lifestyle, we are now barely walking bare feet, and all our daily activities are now on hard floor (Tiles, Marble, Stone). Our feet, the first point of contact on the ground is getting weaker and our knees are forced to absorbed excessive shock.
With time the intra-articular pressure in the knee increases, supply of nutrients and removal of debris from the knee joint cartilage reduces and all these accelerate the knee cartilage damage, change in intra-articular fluid characteristics and ultimately change in knee joint biomechanics.
Wearing tight clothes and walking in excessive flexed posture can affect our knee joints. It's very important to maintain a healthy JROM for a healthy and flexible knee joint, because it helps in maintaining a healthy environment inside the knee joint. Tight musculature around the knee is another component that generally accelerate the knee joint damage.
